Grewal Hall Gets Funky with Free Tickets & a City-Wide Scavenger Hunt 〰️ Thanks to Collaboration with Jacki Krumnow 〰️

March 29, 2025 - Lansing's own Master of Mischief and Marketing Maestro, Jacki Krumnow, is turning the city into a thrilling treasure map in anticipation of the upcoming Here Come the Mummies concert at Grewal Hall at 224. Known for her innovative approach to community engagement, Krumnow has orchestrated a city-wide scavenger hunt, sprinkling free concert tickets across local businesses like a benevolent marketing fairy godmother.

What is Grewal Hall and Who are the Mummies?

For those of you who are new here, and don’t know about the semi, new music and event hall, nestled in the heart of downtown Lansing, Krumnow stumbled upon it first for charity hosted events and eventually had her interest piqued with an EMO Night, she’s been a fan of the venue ever since and believes its a perfect fit to host the dynamic 8 piece funk, theatric rock band, Here Come the Mummies.

Here Come the Mummies is an eight-piece funk-rock ensemble shrouded in mystery and wrapped in bandages. These 5,000-year-old Egyptian mummies are famed for their "Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave," delivering performances that are as unforgettable as their backstory.

But now, for the good, part. How do you get your hands some winning some of these possibly free tickets that Jacki has sprinkled all throughout Lansing? Right? Jacki, this isn’t a food blog, we don’t need to know how your French-German grandmother carried this recipe through 80 years of war zones to end up in America as you eat triple chocolate brownies’ on your back deck. I GET IT!

Concert Scavenger Hunt Around Lansing Mi

Krumnow's scavenger hunt invites residents to explore Lansing's vibrant local scene. By visiting participating businesses, treasure seekers can discover how to enter for a chance to win free tickets to see this spooky, kooky, dad-rock-funky band live.

Visit one of the local businesses you see listed below you (during their regular hours of operation of course), find out from THEM how you can enter to win, and bob’s your uncle. They’ll text you one-two days before the concert if you are the winner, and you head back INTO that location and pick the tickets.

Sometimes it’s as easy as posting a story into your social media and tagging them. Maybe just arriving in their shop, and liking their social page. Or taking a cute photo while you’re already there and posting to social! Other times it might be spending $10-$20 bucks at the local shop, (which honestly, go support your local business! You should be doing this anyways!)

These things add UP for small business owners. Showing that YOU care about their shop, restaurant, livelihood. It literally is their passion, and your helping them pay their bills. Shop local. Support local. This little scavenger hunt is just an incentivization to go check out some really cool places in Lansing.

The hunt not only builds excitement for the concert but also shines a spotlight on the city's unique shops and eateries, reinforcing Jacki's mission to illuminate the hidden gems of Lansing.

The Marketing Behind It

Alright, let’s pull back the curtain for a sec—this isn’t just a fun little scavenger hunt (though, let’s be real, it is a blast). There’s some serious strategy behind it.

When I got my hands on these tickets, I didn’t just start flinging them around Lansing like some marketing Tinkerbell. Nope. Every single business I partnered with was chosen on purpose. Why? Because great marketing isn’t just about throwing promotions into the wind and hoping they land—it’s about making smart, intentional choices that connect the right audience with the right experience.

So, who got tickets? Businesses that already cater to people who would love Here Come the Mummies. Think places with funky, spooky, artsy, or just plain cool vibes—spots where customers already appreciate the kind of theatrical, high-energy, slightly mischievous fun that this band brings. These businesses have the audience built-in, and by partnering with them, we’re not only hyping up the concert, but also driving more people through their doors. Win-win.

Plus, it’s all about making local events feel local. Grewal Hall is bringing in some killer acts, but if the community doesn’t feel connected to what’s happening, events can get lost in the noise. By working directly with Lansing businesses, we’re creating a grassroots buzz that gets people genuinely excited—not just for this show, but for all the awesome stuff happening in the city.

So yeah, this is fun. But it’s also smart marketing in action. And that’s just a bit of the behind the scenes, marketing magic, and now news, tips and tricks, if you stuck around to read this long.

….. Happy Hunting!
