Halfway through, attendees learned that Barrett—who won by just 3.7 percentage points—was mere minutes away at MSU’s Breslin Center, attending his daughter’s basketball game instead of addressing his voters. The congressman’s choice to ignore the town hall while making a public appearance within walking distance has sparked backlash.
